Discover the Joy of Advent and Christmas

Introduce your little ones to the meaning of Christmas with the My Pray and Play Nativity Busy Book. This colorful, interactive quiet felt book combines hands-on learning with the story of the Incarnation, making it a meaningful Catholic Christmas gift for children.

A Brother Francis™ and Saintly Heart™ collaboration.
Faith-Filled Learning for Little Hands

Designed by a pediatric speech language pathologist in collaboration with the Brother Francis design team, this book invites children to explore Scripture through movable figures, bright colors, and multiple textures.

Velcro tabs, buttons, zippers, and clasps encourage exploration and fine motor practice. Enjoy quiet play at home, during Mass in the Christmas season, at a holiday gathering, or on a long ride to Grandma’s house.

Eight Interactive Activities
  • Decorate the Christmas Tree: Join Brother Francis on the inside front cover and attach six snap-on ornaments. Spin the double-layered star at the top. A bonus star keychain reminds children that Jesus is the light of the world.
  • Explore the Advent Wreath: Snap the four Advent candles and white Christ candle on and off. “Light” the candles each Sunday during Advent, then the Christ candle on Christmas morning.
  • Open the Manger Scene: Open the barn doors to find movable figures of Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, and barn animals beneath a shiny Christmas star. A bonus pregnant Mary figure helps children retell the story before Jesus’ birth.
  • Follow the Wise Men: Inspired by Matthew 2:10, this scene shows the wise men traveling with gifts and camels. Unzip the page and place them beside the manger for interactive storytelling.
  • Gather the Angels and Shepherds: Discover three angels, three shepherds, and five sheep beneath “Glory to God in the highest.” Match the sheep by button color and number, then unzip the page to bring the visitors closer to the Christ child.
  • Complete the Nativity Puzzle: Match nine puzzle pieces to the faded Nativity image while practicing problem-solving and fine motor skills.
  • Match the Scripture Verses: Assemble Luke 2:11–12 by matching colors and learning more about the Nativity story.
  • Reflect on Gifts for Jesus: Open the wise men’s three gift boxes and explore removable felt pieces representing frankincense, myrrh, and gold. Practice zippers, latches, and buckles while reflecting on how children can give of themselves to Jesus and others.

Before Your Child Begins
  1. Separate the pieces: Take a few minutes to separate the individual pieces on each page. Pull them apart or use scissors to snip the small connecting parts.
  2. Help pieces stick: A few pieces may not stick at first while the felt is new. They become easier to attach with use. Brushing the pages with a clean toothbrush or hairbrush can help.
  3. Customize story pages: Extra adhesive, soft-sided Velcro pieces are included if you want to add attachment points.
  4. Uncover the mirror: Remove the blue protective film on the back-page mirror by reaching under the felt edge and gently scratching to peel it away.
  5. Keep the tree star attached: The star at the top of the Christmas tree spins; it does not snap on and off.
